Costa Rican Candy Bar

Freshly cut sugar cane. "You can share half and still have a whole."
The machine between me and Hollie is hand-cranked to crush and
squeeze the juice out of the cane. It gets run through once and then adjusted
to run through a second time. The cane is dense, heavy and full of sweet juice (Agua Dulce). Of course, you can simply peel the outside of the cane and chew the fiberous inside to suck out the sweet juice. But I like the machine better. Eight canes of the size in this photo made about 2 1/2 liters of agua dulce.

Dominical Waterfall & Swimming Hole

This cool and refreshing waterfall is located near Dominical beach. It is a little remote and only easily found by locals who already know of its existence.

The waters are wonderfully cool and the hole overflows into a rocky stream toward the ocean. The tree to the left has a rope for swinging out into the water.

A must see!
